How can I get involved in the ALIA QLD Mini Conference?

by | Sep 14, 2021 | Events

We are delighted to extend our call for papers to you, for the annual ALIA Queensland mini-conference. We look forward to welcoming library professionals, associates, workers, friends and interested parties to the State Library of Queensland on the 10th of November, and now is your chance to contribute to the program and let everyone know about the great things you are up to!

This year’s theme is Hack to the Future. What ideas do you have for your library’s future?  Whats the future of work in our industry and how are you navigating it? How has COVID shaped your place of work as we look to the future? What new innovations are you implementing? What skills do we need for the library of tomorrow? How are you harnessing an entrepreneurial mindset with the work you are doing? What technology is taking your library into tomorrow’s world?

These are just a few prompts, but I challenge you to think about how you might be Hacking the Future in your library or workplace. Your presentation can take the form of a workshop, lightning talk, presentation, panel session or something else.

And the best thing?… Anyone can apply!  This is a fantastic opportunity for students, early career library workers and experienced librarians alike. If you have never spoken at a conference, this is your chance! It’s a warm and welcoming mini conference that builds your skills whilst sharing knowledge, skills and ideas with the industry. If you have spoken at larger conferences, here is your chance to refresh those skills post covid and get back to centre stage.

The next step!

All you need to do is fill out the EOI here https://tinyurl.com/aliaqld2021  and we collaborate to bring your ideas to life! If you would like some one-on-one discussion about an idea before you submit an EOI feel free to get in touch at aliaqldgroup@gmail.com and we will set up a zoom to talk through your idea.

Don’t let this great opportunity pass you by and get involved today.

James, ALIA QLD Secretary
