The Queensland Library Achiever of the Year Award was presented on Wednesday 8th November at the ALIA QLD Mini Conference.
Tahnee Pearse and Nicole Hunt were our two finalists.
Congratulations to Nicole Hunt who is our Queensland Library Achiever of the Year for 2023!
Nicole Hunt is Team Manager, Libraries & Community Hubs with Townsville City Council,
current President of Queensland Public Libraries Association, Chair – ALIA Community on
Resource Description Special Interest Group and a member of the Trove Strategic Advisory
Committee. Nicole has an impressive record in the library and information sector including
roles within Council Executive/Administration, TAFE, Hospital and Public libraries across
Queensland and Victoria. All of these roles have been underpinned by a commitment to
advocating and highlighting the role libraries have in connecting people and communities
with opportunities for engagement, collaboration, innovation and experience to enhance
and enrich their lives. She has been actively involved with QPLA for the past five years
including QPLA Conference convenor 2019, Secretary, Vice President, and moving into the
President role in 2022/23. During that time,QPLA has developed a stronger relationship with
both the State Library of Queensland, ALIA and Australian Public Library Alliance (APLA) to
ensure a positive focus on delivering benefits for all QPLA members and their communities
across the state. Nicole’s leadership extends to in-house advocacy, promoting all
staff to connect and contribute to state and national library bodies.
