A terrific panel of experts, an attentive audience and all the blogging tips you could ever desire! ALIA QLD presents Blogging for LIS Professionals.
Our panelists were Amy Walduck, Alisa Howlett and Sam Searle, all bringing their own spin and wisdom to the topic. They engaged in some great conversations, asked each other questions (Michelle Hughes, our excellent moderator was happy to share her role) and provided some terrific insights into not only how to blog, but also why we should.
The best hot tips:
- Use bullet points and headings (see, we learned something already!)
- Have pictures!
- Use short sharp paragraphs and keep sentences short
- Don’t be afraid to reuse content/self-promote across platforms like social media
- Consider the blog as part of your “online presence” and not a thing just on its own
- If you’re not ready to start your own blog consider guesting on one, or using LinkedIn’s article feature. ALIA QLD would love your blog contributions. Email us at aliaqldgroup@gmail.com
- Have some posts ready and published before promoting. It’s no use telling people about your new whizzbang blog if it’s got nothing on it!
- Write about what you want to write about. All our panelists agreed their motivation comes from the things that interest them, and all three were interested in different things!
- Most importantly, be brave and give it a crack!
And our quote of the night: “Done is better than perfect”. So what are you waiting for? Get writing! We’d love to hear what you enjoyed about our panel, anything that you felt was missing, and any blog insights/tips you have of your own! Talk to us on social media @aliaqld on Twitter and ALIA Queensland on Facebook.
The video of the panel is also still available on our Facebook page.
